Ripls (operated by Type2Fun Foundation, PBC) sends text messages so people can be invited to events and share things with the communities they're part of. This page explains exactly how you consent to receive those messages, what they look like, and how to stop them at any time.

Your phone number enters Ripls in one of two consented ways.
When you sign up for or log in to Ripls with your mobile number, the phone-entry screen displays this disclosure, and submitting your number is your opt-in:
The opening phrase names what you are signing up for at that moment, so the disclosure always matches what brought you to Ripls: event invites and community updates from an event invite, help requests and community updates from a neighbor's request for help, item updates and community updates from a shared item, or community updates when you join a community directly. Everything after that phrase — message frequency, rates, and the STOP / HELP instructions — is identical on every screen.
Here is exactly where that disclosure appears — directly below the Send Code button on the phone-entry screen, in both the Ripls mobile app and on the web, with Terms of Service and Privacy Policy links on the same screen:
Ripls is currently in private beta. The sign-up screen above is reached by following a personal invite link — or entering an invite code — shared by an existing member, so it isn't publicly linked or reachable without an invitation. The screenshots above are provided so the opt-in disclosure and flow can be reviewed directly; on the live screen, submitting the phone number is the opt-in.
A Ripls host can invite people they personally know by entering a phone number. Before any message is sent, the host completes a logged, timestamped attestation:
The person then receives a single invitation that clearly identifies the host and Ripls and includes opt-out instructions. They are never added to a marketing list and are not contacted again if they opt out.
Ripls only sends transactional, relationship-based messages — never marketing. Examples:
Message frequency varies based on your account and community activity. Message and data rates may apply.
Replying STOP unsubscribes you promptly — and in any event within 10 business days — and we will not text that number again, even at another member's request.
Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, excluding the aggregators and carriers that deliver the messages. Your phone number is used solely to operate the messaging features described here. See our Privacy Policy for details.
